to the Mechatronic Maniacs
The Mechatronic Maniacs are entering their fifth year of competition and need your support. The cost of the program (registration fees, robot parts, practice playing field, travel, etc.) is budgeted at $50,000 for 2007 which is entirely defrayed by community support and fundraising. In past years, the team’s fundraising efforts met approximately 50% of the need with various efforts (selling candy bars just doesn’t make it!). The goal this year is to meet at least 75% of need through business sponsorship. This will enable the team to devote their extracurricular time to these ambitious plans:
- Build a functional and informational "pit area" where the team can work on the robot at competition. This would be a combination of trade show display and NASCAR pit.
- Build a mechanized, hydraulic lift for the robot.
- Develop community outreach with more volunteer activities including school demonstrations.
- Build the video, photo and web site elements of the team to support community involvement and outreach. The team wants to spread the message and get students involved in science and technology.
Your support will continue the important mission of identifying and developing a future technical labor pool, build good will and responsible citizens while demonstrating your community commitment. Support may be offered in the following ways:
